Who should not receive Anectine?

Your doctor should not give you Anectine if you know you are allergic to any of its ingredients, particularly succinylcholine chloride. You also should not take Anectine if you have or recently had any of the following medical conditions:

  •  nerve damage;
  •  a severe burn;
  •  a severe trauma;
  •  an upper-body movement injury;
  •  muscle disease or a family history of muscle disease;
  •  malignant hyperthermia or a family history of malignant hyperthermia, which is a disorder that causes a high fever and muscle contractions during general anesthesia.

Children should not be treated with Anectine unless it is necessary during an emergency procedure. You should not use Anectine while you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless the benefits to your health outweigh the risks to your fetus or baby; you should discuss these benefits and risks with your doctor.
