Who should not take Botox Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA)?

Contraindications to Botox include prior allergic reaction, injections into inflammed areas or areas of infections, use during pregnancy (not established), patients with neuromuscular diseases (myasthenia gravis), and other medicines used at the same time(aminoglycosides, penicillamine, quinine ). 
Botox Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) should not be used in individuals younger than 18 years of age.

Do not use this medication if you have an infection at the site of the injection.

Individuals who are allergic to Botox Cosmetic or other botulinum toxins should not use it.

If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, do not use Botox Cosmetic until you discuss it with your doctor.

Some medical conditions may prevent the use of Botox Cosmetic, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease), asthma, dermatochalasis, speaking or voice difficulties, difficulty swallowing, heart attack, heart disease, heart arrhythmia, infection at the site of the injection, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, lung disorders, motor neuropathy, myasthenia gravis, ptosis, sebaceous skin or other skin infections or disorders, or incontinence.
