What are the side effects of dantrolene (Dantrium)?

Some common side effects of the muscle relaxer dantrolene (Dantrium) include muscle weakness, drowsiness, dizziness, diarrhea, fatigue or difficulty swallowing. One serious side effect is seizure. If any of these side effects happens, gets worse or does not resolve, call your doctor. Do not drink alcohol while taking dantrolene, it may cause the side effects to worsen. Also, talk to your doctor if you are taking other drugs, like pain medications. Taking them with dantrolene could cause severe side effects.
