What should I avoid while taking Flexeril?

While taking the muscle relaxant Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine), you should avoid drinking alcohol, because Flexeril can enhance its effects on thinking and motor skills. You should also avoid the antidepressant drugs known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), such as phenelzine and tranylcypromine, because the combination can cause life-threatening side effects. Don't start Flexeril if you have taken an MAOI within the past 14 days.
