What are the side effects of colchicine?

Colchicine has been known to have some common side effects. These include:
  • Nausea and/or vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Stomach pain or cramps
If these common side effects become severe or do not resolve, talk to your doctor.

Severe side effects are rarer, but if any of the following occur, you need to talk to your doctor right away or seek medical attention:
  • Bleeding or bruising that is unusual or unexpected
  • Muscle weakness or pain
  • Numbness in the toes or fingers
  • Pale or gray tongue, lips or palms of the hands
  • Sore or swollen throat, chills, fever or any other sign of infection
  • Tiredness or weakness
