Besides side effects, are there warnings for abobotulinumtoxinA?

AbobotulinumtoxinA injection can spread beyond the injection site and cause symptoms of botulism, including severe or life-threatening difficulty in breathing or swallowing. Patients may suffer these symptoms for several weeks. They may need to be fed using a feeding tube and may breathe food or drink into their lungs. Symptoms can start within hours of an abobotulinumtoxinA injection or as late as several weeks after treatment.

Anyone receiving abobotulinumtoxinA can have these symptoms, but children being treated for abnormal muscle tightening have been found to face the highest risk.

Alert your doctor to any prior problems swallowing or breathing, such as asthma or emphysema, or any condition that affects your muscles or nerves such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease), motor neuropathy, myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton Syndrome. If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately: loss of strength or muscle weakness all over the body; double or blurred vision; drooping eyelids; difficulty swallowing, breathing or speaking; or inability to control urination.
