Does probenecid and colchicine interact with other medicines or food?

A number of medications should be avoided or taken cautiously in combination with probenecid-colchicine. Those include:

  • cancer, diabetes and anxiety medicines
  • antibiotics
  • diuretics
  • vitamins
  • penicillin
  • aminosalicylic acid
  • blood thinners such as heparin
  • anti-inflammatory drugs, such as aspirin, salsalate and indomethacin

Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements, vitamins and herbal remedies that you take before starting on probenecid-colchicine.
