Your doctor will probably tell you to take tizanidine (Zanaflex) two or three times a day with or without food. Tizanidine, a treatment for multiple sclerosis (MS), comes in both capsule and tablet forms; the forms aren't interchangeable, so don't switch a capsule for a tablet, or vice versa. The capsules can be swallowed whole or opened and sprinkled on a soft food such as applesauce, but the drug may work differently when opened, so check with your doctor first. Make sure you take the same dose of tizanidine the same way each time.
