You should take azathioprine exactly as directed by your doctor. Typically, it will be taken by mouth once daily at about the same time each day. You should take azathioprine with a full glass of water and with food to avoid getting an upset stomach. You can also get injections of azathioprine, which will likely be administered at a hospital.
