What is Carbatrol?

Carbatrol is a brand name prescription anticonvulsant and pain relieving drug marketed by Shire US Inc. Its active ingredient is carbamazepine, which blocks some nerve impulses, keeping patients from experiencing pain from involuntary convulsions. Carbatrol can be used to treat epilepsy, trigeminal neuralgia (a facial tic), and some psychiatric disorders.
