What are the side effects of Isoptin SR?

Isoptin SR (verapamil), a prescription medicine that can treat high blood pressure, may cause minor or serious side effects. Talk to your doctor if the following side effects persist or become a problem: nausea or vomiting; constipation; fatigue or weakness; headaches; flushed face or tingling, warm, red or itchy skin; and impaired sexual function. Notify your doctor at once if any of these more serious side effects appear: feeling lightheaded, dizzy or fainting; rapid, slow or erratic heartbeat; swollen ankles or legs; shortness of breath; fast weight gain; yellowed eyes or skin; lack of appetite; stomach pain; nausea; clay-colored stools; dark urine; low fever or fever accompanied by headaches; sore throat; and a bad rash that blisters and peels. Seek emergency medical attention if you notice signs of an allergic reaction (breathing problems, hives or swollen tongue, lips, throat or face).
