How can I perform local self-sweeping of my chakras?

Sit or stand for this exercise. Perform your standard warm-up, and then decide if you’re going to use visualization.


1. Scan your front solar plexus chakra, and note any energetic disturbances.

2. Reestablish your intent by silently declaring to yourself that you intend to sweep and clean away the dirty prana from the front solar plexus. Remember to keep your tongue on the roof of your mouth, and continue with pranic breathing as you sweep.

3. If you’re going to self-sweep without visualization, turn your dominant hand backward so that your fingers are pointing at your front solar plexus chakra from 4 to 6 inches away. If you’re using full visualization, imagine your fingertips 4 to 6 inches from your visualized body. Whether you use visualization or not, your fingers should be in the slightly cupped sweeping position. You sweep either your actual body or your visualization in a counterclockwise motion. Remember how to determine your counterclockwise orientation: Imagine a clock with its face outward lying on the body part on which you are working. This applies to working both on your physical body and on a visualization of your body.

4. Begin sweeping with a tight counterclockwise motion of the wrist. One second per revolution is a good pace. Visualize light beams if you wish.

5. After five revolutions, pull your hand down and away and flick it into the salt water. After every two sets of five sweeps, spray your hand with alcohol.

6. As you sweep, be aware of any heavy or sticky feelings your hand detects. Even though a chakra is a much smaller target than an arm, a leg, or an entire vertical section of the body, there can still be pockets within the perimeter of a chakra. Zero in on any you find, and remove them by reinforcing your intent and sweeping through those areas with a bit more will.

7. Repeat this sequence of two sets of five counterclockwise twists five more times, which will give you a total of 60 sweeps of the front solar plexus chakra.

8. Rescan your front solar plexus chakra to see if there’s been any reduction in the amount of congestion.

9. Conclude the exercise by shaking your hands and spraying them with alcohol again. Take a couple of pranic breaths, and relax.
