How should I choose healthy milk products?

There are many non-dairy alternatives to cow's milk that are now available, which allows you to enjoy milk without the side effects of having dairy. Watch me describe some alternate sources of milk products.
Here are some tips on how to choose healthy milk products:

Eat most often:
  • 1% or skim milk, nonfat dry milk, evaporated skim milk, fortified soymilk
  • Nonfat or low-fat yogurt
  • Low-fat cottage cheese
  • Fat-free cheese
Eat occasionally:
  • 2% milk
  • Frozen yogurt
  • Pudding with nonfat milk
  • Regular cheeses
Avoid or eat sparingly:
  • Whole milk and chocolate milk
  • Cream and half & half
  • Evaporated or condensed milk
  • Sour cream and ice cream
  • Whipped cream or nondairy whipped topping
