How do other illnesses affect postdrome phase?

Migraine headaches and postdrome phase are not usually affected by other illnesses. However, they are often confused with other conditions or triggered by other natural processes. Symptoms of postdrome phase like depression are often thought to indicate a condition when really it is just a phase of the migraine. Additionally, migraine headaches are often triggered in women at the time of their menstruation. Some medicines that affect estrogen levels in women, like hormonal birth control, can also lead to migraines.
