Mucolipidoses are considered rare diseases. Rates of incidence vary depending on the type of mucolipidoses disease. Scientists estimate that MLII and MLIII may affect between two and three people per million. MLIV may affect one in 40,000 individuals. The world-wide carrier rate is unknown.
