How do medications treat mesenteric lymphadenitis?

Since there is no specific treatment for mesenteric lymphadenitis, the only medication that would help is an over-the-counter pain reliever or fever reducer. These medications will help with the symptoms that occur as a result of the infection.

If your doctor prescribes you an antibiotic for a more serious bacterial case, the antibiotic will kill the infection that started the swelling. The antibiotic helps the swelling of the lymph nodes to decrease, and the infection should go away within a couple days or of weeks.
