What is Vraylar?

Vraylar (cariprazine) is a medication prescribed for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Vraylar is administered as a capsule taken once a day. It may take several weeks for the drug to reach full effectiveness. Side effects may include tremor, slurred speech, weight gain, and involuntary muscle movements. Not all patients may be treated with Vraylar; elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis may be at a higher risk of death from cardiovascular or infection disease, so the drug is not approved for their use. Safety has not been for in pregnant and nursing women, as well as pediatric patients. Vraylar may cause drowsiness, and care should be taken in operating machinery or vehicles until its effects are known. Other adverse effects include indigestion, vomiting, and restlessness.
