Psychotherapy can definitely aid in any weight loss program. Often psychological issues create barriers to successfully adopting a healthy lifestyle. Using food for comfort, stress management, or just feeling defeated and depressed by your current physical situation can make weight loss an impossible mountain to climb. Having someone who can help identify any of these barriers, and provide support and encouragement is crucial if you think that this is keeping you from reaching your goals of being optimally healthy and active and fit.
