What are somatoform disorders?

These are psychiatric diagnoses in which the patient is preoccupied with physical symptoms including pain, the most common symptom experience. Medical tests fail to show a specific physical cause. Depression and anxiety are not present. There is no substance abuse. Patients diagnosed with somatoform disorder have typically presented different symptoms for several years.
