Do mental health problems cause difficulty with thinking?

Mental illness often causes difficulty with thinking. A common symptom is thinking that is confused and disorganized. Another sign of thinking problems connected to mental illness is trouble coping with the normal stresses of daily life. People with mental health problems may have difficulty concentrating and may start to have trouble doing their job or schoolwork. Problems with memory, logical thinking, and normal speaking are also signs of mental illness. Some people with mental illness may have hallucinations or delusions.
