Why are anti-anxiety drugs prescribed after mental abuse?

Mental abuse can leads to feelings of anxiety. Anti-anxiety drugs reduce these symptoms and allow the muscles to relax. Buspirone is a common anti-anxiety drug that relieves anxiety symptoms. This drug has minor side effect of light-headedness with nausea, nervousness, insomnia, and headaches.

Occasionally, a sedative may be prescribed. These drugs are only prescribed for a short period of time because they can become habit forming. Common sedatives include lorazepam (Ativan), chlordiazepoxide (Librium), diazepam (Valium), alprazolam (Xanax), and clonazepam (Klonopin). Sedative side effects include memory problems, difficulties balancing, drowsiness, and reduced coordination.
