How is the prostate checked?

To check your prostate, your doctor puts on gloves and inserts an index finger into the rectum and feels the prostate for its size and any irregularities. Lubrication is used to minimize discomfort. A blood test can also be done. You should talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of prostate screening.
