Medications are not generally used as a primary treatment for stage 1 melanoma. Instead, surgical removal of the mole or skin growth and the surrounding tissue is usually the first line of treatment. Medications may be used in chemotherapy for later stages of the cancer, but usually, removing the growth and surrounding tissue is enough to treat stage 1 melanoma since it's only just begun to spread.
