Suboxone contains an antagonist called naloxone, which prevents people from abusing suboxone. If they do inject suboxone, the antagonist will take effect and put you into a state of severe withdrawal. When taken orally, naloxone is not put into the bloodstream easily, and therefore you don’t have that effect. If a person is going to take medication at home, it’s usually advisable to take suboxone so the person can’t inject it and abuse it.
