What preventive services are covered under Medicare?

Medicare Part B covers a variety of preventive services such as screenings for diabetes, colorectal cancer, and cardiovascular disease. Medicare Part B also covers gynecological exams, mammograms, and prostate cancer screenings. Other preventive services include

- diabetes self-management training

- bone-mass measurements

- flu and hepatitis B shots

- glaucoma screenings

- smoking cessation counseling

- medical nutrition therapy

 

New this year secondary to healthcare reform legislation is an annual planning session for your wellness that involves diet, physical activity, and stress management. Rules for this Annual Wellness Planning have not yet been fully written.
