What are the different types of clinical research?

Clinical research and clinical trials can be used to test different things using different groups of people. Some clinical trials are for people who don’t have any medical conditions and some are only for people who have a particular medical condition, like asthma. Clinical trials might test new treatments, such as medicines and tools, or things you do, like exercise or a new diet. In some types of clinical trials, people will be given either the best currently available care or the new treatment. Some trials compare a new treatment to having no treatment at all. The treatment that people receive will be selected at random, and they might not be told which one they have. Sometimes a clinical trial does find the new treatment works better, but sometimes it does not.
