What is dry macular degeneration?

This is one of two forms of macular degeneration, a condition that causes vision loss. In either form, free radicals from sunlight, smoking, or other environmental factors cause cellular damage to part of the retina, called the macula. In dry macular regeneration, a pigment is deposited in the macula that still causes vision loss but does not show scars, leakage, or blood.
