How can I reduce pressure on my prostate if I have BPH?

Any pressure on the prostate can make benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) symptoms worse. Excess pressure on a full bladder, for example, can push urine back into the prostate, further irritating the gland and making symptoms worse. So, to keep pressure on the prostate to a minimum:
  • urinate regularly
  • don't hold urine in
  • urinate before exercising or lifting heavy objects
