Why is atrial fibrillation bad for me?

Douglas E. Severance, MD
Family Medicine
Atrial fibrillation is serious because an  irregular or rapid heart beat can lead to more severe heart problems. You can develop blood clots that can affect your circulation and lead to a stroke (brain attack). Long term rapid heart beating can also weaken your heart and lead to heart failure. Talk to your doctor about existing conditions and complications from atrial fibrillation. Then take control of your life by taking your atrial fibrillation medications and adopting healthy lifestyle habits.
