What activities should someone who just underwent lipoplasty avoid?

Stuart A. Linder, MD
Plastic Surgery
Our patients are instructed to avoid heavy lifting or strenous activities for at least 3 weeks after undergoing significant liposuction. They also are to keep incision sites dry for 7 days.

If you've just undergone lipoplasty, you should follow your doctor's orders. Generally, you'll be ready to go back to work in a few days, but it may be a weeks or a month before you can go back to all of your normal activities. Make sure your doctor approves before resuming vigorous exercise. Last of all, avoid gaining any significant amount of weight, as this may compromise your liposuction results, even going so far as to reverse them.
