How common are learning disabilities?

Learning disabilities affect an estimated 3-15% of school-age children in the United States. Boys are diagnosed more often and outnumber girls five to one. More than half of students receiving special education services have been diagnosed with a learning disorder. Children with poor grades or behavioral issues are often tested for LD.
