Is there a cure for acute laryngitis?

Acute laryngitis typically resolves on its own within two weeks. In cases where laryngitis persists or becomes chronic, there may be an underlying cause such as a respiratory infection, bronchitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, bulimia, or throat cancer. When the underlying cause is addressed, the symptoms of laryngitis should abate. Although not a cure for laryngitis, corticosteroids can be used when someone with laryngitis must use their voice (such as for a speaking engagement or vocal performance) immediately.
