How should I prepare to leave the hospital after knee replacement surgery?

When you and your surgeon feel that you have recovered enough to leave the hospital, you will meet with other members of your healthcare team to help you plan the next steps of your recovery from knee replacement surgery. You will meet with:
  • A social worker to check your equipment
  • A physical therapist to go over your physical therapy plan
  • A nurse to review medication use, pain management, incision care, and other information your doctor has ordered for your continued recovery
