What is the process of a kidney transplant?

The transplant process begins with a referral from a nephrologist (kidney specialist). In this video, Ronald Martin, RN, with the transplant services team at Riverside Community Hospital, describes the early stages of transplant process in detail.
The long term use of Prednisone and its side effect are concerning.  However, the rejection or loss of your kidney is a very significant and potentially fatal price to pay.  You should continue to have an open discussion with your physicians and specialists and report any significant changes or side effects you experience. The prednisone dose you are taking is not a high dose, however please do not make any changes without first discussing it with your doctors especially factoring in your kidney health.
