Can herbal supplements interfere with the drugs I take for kidney disease?

Many herbal supplements can interfere with prescription drugs, including drugs you take for kidney disease. A few examples are St. John's wort, Echinacea, ginkgo, garlic, ginseng, ginger and blue cohosh. If you have a kidney transplant you are especially at risk, because any interaction between herbal supplements and your medicines could put you at risk for losing your kidney.
