How does stage 1 kidney cancer affect the body?

Stage 1 kidney cancer starts in the kidney cells, or renal cells. It's thought that the DNA is somehow damaged, which leads to an overproduction of kidney cells that form a tumor on the kidney. This tumor can cause several problems within the kidney and, eventually, throughout the body. However, in stage 1 the tumor is usually still small and only affects the kidney.
