Using ParaGard (T 380A Intrauterine Copper Contraceptive) to prevent pregnancy won't increase your risk of having future fertility problems. In the past, there has been concern that women who contracted sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea and chlamydia were more likely to become infertile from these infections if they also used an IUD. But research shows this isn't so. Studies also find no link between using an IUD before you have any children and fertility problems down the road.
