Does tocilizumab have any side effects?

Side effects may include headaches, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and triglycerides, low blood platelet count, upper respiratory infections, and inflammation of the nose and throat.

Tocilizumab increases the risk for serious infections with bacteria, viruses, and fungi. People with active infections should not start taking tocilizumab. Live vaccines should not be given while taking tocilizumab. Malignancies, gastrointestinal perforation, and increased levels of liver enzymes have occurred. Some people have serious, even fatal, allergic reactions after an infusion.
