How do I find a qualified hypnotherapist?

You can find a hypnotherapist by contacting the following agencies:
  • The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH)
  • The American Psychotherapy and Medical Hypnosis Association (APMHA)
  • The American Association of Professional Hypnotherapists
Hypnotherapists are licensed medical practitioners who have received additional training. ASCH affiliation requires 20 hours of approved training, 40 hours of workshops, and an appropriate graduate degree. APMHA requires that its members complete a six-week course. The success of hypnotherapy also depends on your relationship with your hypnotherapist, so make sure you choose someone with whom you are comfortable. It is also important to ask about their credentials and specific experience with the issue that concerns you.
