What are the side effects of Praluent (alirocumab)?

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the most common side effects that occurred in clinical trials prior to approval of Praluent (alirocumab) included:
  • itching, swelling or pain at the site where Praluent was injected
  • cold or flu
  • muscle pain
Allergic reactions were also reported. Usually, these caused skin rashes or hives, but some reactions were serious and required hospitalization. People should seek medical attention if they show signs of a serious allergic reaction.
