How does hepatitis affect my risk of developing cancer?

Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) cause inflammation of the liver. Liver cancer can develop after many years of infection with either of these viruses. People infected with HCV are also at approximately a 20-30 percent increased risk of developing certain lymphomas (cancers of the lymphatic system).
