What are simeprevir and sofosbuvir prescribed for?

Simeprevir (Olysio) and sofosbuvir (Sovaldi) are direct-acting antiviral drugs. They block specific proteins the hepatitis C virus needs to multiply and spread. This combination is one of the recommended regimens for people with virus genotype 1 who have not yet been treated for hepatitis C.
