What activities should someone with presbycusis avoid?

Presbycusis is often related to a family history of the condition, but there are activities that can accelerate hearing loss. Any activity that involves loud noise such as live music, firearms, heavy machinery, fireworks, or riding a snowmobile or motorcycle can make presbycusis worse. Use of ear plugs in these situations can help. Even an innocent-seeming activity such as listening to music through ear buds or headphones can worsen the condition if the volume is too high.
