Children and their families should be provided with devices and training to manage Usher syndrome on a daily basis. As the children with Usher syndrome become older, they should be provided with items to help them maximize the vision they have. This can include magnifying glasses, better lighting, and materials in contrasting colors. Children who have some hearing should be provided with such things as hearing aids or assistive hearing devices.
