If noise-induced hearing loss is caught early, you can take measures to prevent further damage, and your condition will not be particularly serious. Too often, though, people don't notice that they're suffering from noise-induced hearing loss damage until symptoms become more serious. They end up requiring the use of hearing aids or cochlear implants to help them hear more normally. If you don't start using ear protection or remove yourself from the situations that are causing the hearing loss, your symptoms will only worsen with time. Eventually, you could lose your hearing completely.
