Can hearing aids cure hidden hearing loss?

Hearing aids cannot cure hidden hearing loss. Hearing aids are aids. They are not a cure for hidden hearing loss; they are not a cure for age-related or noise-induced hearing loss. Hearing aids make sounds louder, and if they're properly fitted—and that's very important, they do have to be properly fitted by an audiologist—hearing aids will amplify the regions and pitches where hearing is poor. They won't amplify the regions or pitches where hearing is normal. Well-fitted hearing aids will also make sure that soft sounds are audible, that average sounds are comfortable, and that loud sounds are louder, but that they're not uncomfortably loud. This is all part of the hearing aid fitting process.
