Are there any medical advantages to spending time in the sun?

The sun helps your body produce vitamin D. Without enough vitamin D in your body, you're at higher risk of developing a number of health conditions including heart disease, breast cancer and prostate cancer. However, you should make sure to protect your skin with sunscreen and adequate clothing when you spend time in the sun.
