Regular hand-washing is one of the easiest and best ways to prevent illness any time of the year --- not just during cold and flu season. You should wash your hands several times a day, year-round. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that you wash your hands in all these situations:
    • before eating
    • after using the bathroom
    • after handling garbage
    • after cleaning up a child who has used the bathroom
    • after touching an animal
    • and after coughing, blowing your nose, or sneezing
