What are the suggested food portion sizes for toddlers?

Toddlers need a variety of nutritious foods for growth and health. Offer your toddler foods with different textures, tastes and colors in child-size portions. Listed below are suggested portion sizes for children 1 to 3 years of age:

Bread -- 1/4 or1/2 slice
Bagel or bun -- 1/4 or 1/2
Ready-to-eat cereal -- 1/3 to 1/2 cup
Cooked cereal -- 1/4 -1/2 cup
Rice, pasta -- 1/4 - 1/3 cup
Whole or sliced fruit -- 1/4 - 1/2 piece
Cooked, canned or fresh chopped fruits and vegetables -- 1/4 - 1/3 cup
Milk or yogurt -- 1/2 cup
Cheese -- 1/2 ounce
Meat, chicken, fish, beans, or egg -- 1 - 3 tablespoons
