How much fluid should I drink before I exercise?

You should begin any workout, practice, or game well hydrated, whether the exercise is indoors or outdoors. Drink 12 to 20 ounces of water or a properly mixed sports drink approximately two hours before the event or workout, and an additional eight ounces 10 to 20 minutes prior to activity.
